Driving School

A * Driving School’s terms and conditions of business are as follows, by booking a lesson you accept these terms:

• Payment must be at least one lesson in advance (other than for the first lesson)
• The  car will be maintained in good condition but it is impossible to keep it spotless inside and out!  Cold drinks only will be allowed but you will be responsible for any interior cleaning costs due to spillages or stains howsoever caused by you.
• Minor scuffs and scratches to wheels and mirrors etc. are inevitable sometimes, however you will not be held responsible for any repair and consequential costs unless caused wilfully.
• Whenever the car is being driven by a provisional licence holder, no rear seat passengers will be allowed, other than in exceptional circumstances and with the full agreement of us both. Under no circumstances will children under 16 be allowed in the rear during lessons.
• We will not “piggy back” (have the current and next / previous pupil in the car at the same time) unless both pupils are picked up from the same address and are happy for the other to sit in on their lesson.
• We will only give Theory Test and Hazard Perception Test training during lesson times with your express wish.  Highway Code knowledge,, however, will be checked on an ad hoc basis.
• Lessons cancelled by you at less than 48 hours notice will be charged the full rate for that lesson.  I may use discretion in applying this condition but only in exceptional circumstances.
• If  we cancel at less than 48 hours notice then we will re-arrange at a time to suit the pupil within 120 hours of the original lesson.  We  will make up any shortfall in the lesson duration caused by traffic delays, lessons over-running or any circumstances not the responsibility of the pupil.
• We  will abide by regulations relating to  not smoking in the workplace (my car is deemed to be a workplace).  If you require a cigarette or comfort break mid-lesson no extra time will be added on.
• We  will not take or receive telephone calls during lessons, unless urgent and in compliance with Road Traffic Act legislation and with your express permission.
• The maximum charge for a driving test within a 15 minute drive from the pick-up point is 2 hours. This will allow plenty of time to get to and from the test centre as well as some “warming up” time. I will always drive back from the test centre whether you have passed or not.
• We  will not use bad or aggressive language  in your presence.
• We  will maintain your appointment book and lesson notes however you must bring the book with you to each lesson.
• We will need to see both the photocard and paper parts of your licence before your first lesson. You must maintain a valid licence throughout your driving lessons and advise us immediately in the event of this licence being suspended for any reason. whether you have passed or not.
